How To Become Mentally Tough

Hey Girlbosses, let’s talk grit. Grit is a trait that all successful people share—it is the ability to work hard, stay resilient in the face of adversity, and is an innate quality in all of us that allows perseverance and goal-achieving. The thing is, some people’s innate grit is just stronger than others. So I want to share some tips with you on how to become mentally stronger, and in turn more successful.

 

1.)  Always Act As If You’re In Total Control

Ever heard the phrase, “fake it ‘til you make it”? That’s what I’m talking about! Most successful people take complete control – and accountability- for both successes and failures. If they succeed, they act like they always knew they would succeed…fake it ‘til you make it! If they fail, they don’t blame bad luck, they take control of the failure and figure out how to turn it around! 

 

2.)  Don’t Focus on Things You Can’t Do

Mental strength is a lot like muscle strength. So why waste your mental strength on things that are out of your control? Be your own change, focus on the things that you can do, not the things that you can’t do.

 

3.)  Celebrate the Success of Others

There isn’t a finite amount of success- if someone else is successful in their endeavors, celebrate them! Many times people let the success of others dictate the measure of their success – don’t let resentment waste your mental energy! Apply that energy to your own endeavors and surround yourself with successful people for inspiration!

 

4.)  Don’t Complain

Complaining wastes a massive amount of mental energy. It also can be toxic to your mental well being, as well as physical well being. If something isn’t going your way, channel that complaining energy into finding a solution. This will keep you mentally tough when the tough gets going!
